As I write this during Thanksgiving week I am thankful to be involved in Armstrong Habitat for Humanity, an organization that’s vision is “ To Provide Decent and Affordable Housing”. Since 1992 working families in Armstrong County have been given a hand up to make the vision a reality. It takes many hands, hearts and hammers to build new homes, renovate deteriorating houses and do critical repairs to existing homes.
2017 has been no exception. Our crew of elves have been hard at work building 2 energy efficient homes, renovating 4 Homes, and making major repairs on 25 homes in Wick City. All this means families will be able to sleep in a safe home. As wonderful as this is there are many more deserving families that need our help.
This holiday season finds Chrissy and Brad along with their three children living in an unsafe trailer. Their youngest, Toby, 6, has been tragically diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. This is our next partner family. The family has been hard at work with Habitat for Humanity putting in sweat equity hours, attending financial training, and praying that their home will soon be complete.
Habitat for Humanity is close to making this dream come true… but more funds are needed to purchase building materials to complete their house so it can become a home. With this letter and our social media fund raising efforts we have set a goal of raising $25,000 for this project this December. So we are asking that you look into your heart, take your hand and help.
